Amin Kawar, passionate geologist, discovers phosphate in Russeifa, Jordan. Founder of the Transjordan Phosphate Mines Ltd.
1950s
Later named the Jordan Phosphate Mines Co. (JPMC), which went public in 1953, Tawfiq Amin Kawar establishes Amin Kawar & Sons (AKS) as a ship agency and logistics company in 1955.

In 2004, Kawar Group rebranded its Logistics and Freight Forwarding arm as KARGO to give clients a one-stop-shop solution for all their logistics needs.
The Aqaba Logistics Village (ALV) offers warehousing, logistics and cargo support services from a 470,000 sqm site adjacent to Aqaba Container Terminal (ACT).
2005
The Kawar Group celebrated its 50 year anniversary
2006
Twenty years after the inception of its ICT division, Kawar Group led the largest ICT buyout transaction in the Region, aimed at acquiring and integrating 11 IT and consulting companies into what became the public shareholding company Optimiza, listed as Al Faris National Company for Investment & Export (CEBC), the first IT Company to go public on the Amman Stock Exchange (ASE).
2008
Since 2008, Kawar Energy set to be at the forefront of clean and affordable energy in Jordan. Kawar Energy’s focus is on clean energy technologies and has the capability to develop, build, own and operate large scale renewable projects and across the energy value-chain.
2010
Oasis 500, the MENA region’s first and largest ICT accelerator, was co-founded Kawar Group’s management and continue to serve on the board.
2014
Shams Ma’an Power Generation PSC, the largest solar plant in Jordan, was developed by Kawar Energy since 2009, with COD achieved in 2014. Shams Ma’an was the largest privately owned PV plant in the region at the time of commissioning. Kawar Energy invited Mitsubishi Corporation’s subsidiary Diamond Generating Europe, Ltd. and Nebras Power Q.S.C. as equity partners along with Kawar Investments.
2015
GAC Jordan handling the first gas carriers to offload at Aqaba FSRU terminal.
2018
IrisGuard completed its latest investment round fully subscribed from Goldman Sachs' Merchant Banking Division to fund Irisguard’s growth for Financial Inclusion in Emerging Markets.
2019
Kawar Energy completed the largest private-to-private solar wheeling project (37MW) in the Region with Orange Group Jordan, a leading Telecom Operator. The Project was financed by the EBRD and a syndicate of local banks.
